Location: The Cardiff Arms, Canal Quarter
Salary: £32,000-£34,000 depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses

The Cardiff Arms is an exciting new addition to the revitalised Canal Quarter, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, decorated in the style of a traditional London Borough pub. We pride ourselves on serving a carefully curated menu of delicious, traditional pub food, alongside an excellent selection of draught lagers, ciders, craft beers and ales. With a vibrant mix of entertainment, including live music, sports screenings, and games like pool, we’re creating a destination for locals and visitors alike.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead the opening and ongoing success of The Cardiff Arms. This is an exceptional opportunity to take charge of a new venue, build a strong team, and deliver a first-class experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a passionate and motivated team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
• Operations: Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service, quality control, and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Financial Management: Manage budgets, control costs, and achieve revenue targets through effective planning and analysis.
• Customer Experience: Maintain a high standard of hospitality, ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable visit.
• Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with local customers and establish The Cardiff Arms as a key part of the Canal Quarter community.
• Entertainment Coordination: Plan and manage events, including live music, sports viewings, and gaming activities, to attract diverse audiences.
• Product Excellence: Work with suppliers to curate a standout food and drink offering, maintaining consistency and quality.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a General Manager or senior leadership role in a hospitality or pub setting.
• Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, including menu development and beverage selection.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Passion for delivering outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming pub atmosphere.
• Experience in planning and hosting events, with a good understanding of licensing and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of craft beers, ales, and modern pub trends is a plus.
